Hidden History in Keelung?

Last week during a telephone conversation with an old friend in Taipei,
he was searching the Internet and this photo appeared on his screen.

First thought - Wow, I didn't know there was a Military Club in Keelung!

I sent this photo to a few friends, asking for their thoughts.

This photo was a Big Surprise to everyone.

I searched the http:// address printed on the bottom of the photo (above),
spent a long time going through photos but did not find this photo,
I didn't get to the end, gave up too much time.

One of my friends, translated the Chinese sign on the left side of the photo.

Thank you Chris Wang for identifying wording on the Chinese sign.

Reading the long Chinese sign on the left side of the door area,
it would appear this building was the
Taiwan Military Police Station.

One of my friends said this could have been the Grand Opening of the "Club"

Another clue!

The sign above the door.

Had the US Military made the sign made, it would have said, Men's Club not Men Club.

Where does that leave us?

My guess, still lost, nothing for sure!

The Taiwan Military was trying to more easily to keep the young men who came off our
visiting ships out of trouble.

Was the "Club" serving Alcohol?

Maybe it was a social club without Alcohol.

They could keep an eye on the club and head-off fights and drunkenness to some degree.
Probably the ship would have sent some of their Sailors on SP Duty to also check-in.

But, I'm just guessing.

Please leave your thoughts.

And perhaps, someone may have seen or been inside this building in the 1950s.

Where was it located?

It's not over, hopefully, with your help, we can figure it out.

Look what I also found on the Internet.

You will have to go onto the Internet to see this discovery.

It's refreshing to see what the City of Keelung did.

Remember, this was the early 1950's....
