This morning I was surprised to see the Taiwan Civil Government show up on the subject line of one of my emails, the Washington Examiner’s Daily On Defense, Newsletter.
Here's what I found:
A very interesting, short video, that quickly explains where Taiwan is today...

Take a couple of minutes to watch it.

There's one line in that presentation that is so absurd it shouldn't go unchallenged. Chiang proceeded to "strip the Taiwanese people of their Japanese nationality." What idiot wrote such a thing? Is that meant to suggest that the peoples of East Asian countries that were invaded and occupied by Japan should have been Japanese citizens after the evil empire's defeat in World War II? It also ignores the elementary fact that the Taiwanese weren't ethnic Japanese in the first place.
i have been following this organization for quite time, and it is a pretty hilarious one. first of all, all taiwanese are actually still japanese by being governed by the US marine military government. this organization markets the identification card claiming such a card will allow you to enter either japan or US without visa (some people actually both the card). the government holds annual training seminars for the civil servants and this organization insists on calling all the taiwanese cities by the old japanese names, and officials have been appointed to those cities. it is because of its claim that our ex president chen filed the legal action in washington d.c. against the judicial verdict rendered on him (as he claimed that taiwan is run by the marine, there was one time the orginzation claimed that all americans in taiwan were actual marines dressed in plain clothes to secretly protect the island. and the organization organizes annul trip to tokyo to observe the emperor's birthday as they are japanese. one last thing, the head of the organization was one time the headd of judicial yuan under ex president chen. talk about new thing under the sun....
Thanks for posting that. After doing some additional research based on your input, I think your use of the word "hilarious" to describe that group and its website is spot on, if perhaps a little too kind. How else to describe someone who advocates "Return to Japanese citizenship with allegiance to Japan" for the people of Taiwan. They're obviously clueless. I'd be sympathetic to anyone espousing Taiwan independence and a Taiwanese citizenship, but Japanese? Maybe these loonies should spend some time actually living in Japan where they might come to understand how the Japanese view outsiders. They even look down on Japanese who've lived abroad for a time, considering them no longer "pure Japanese." Do they really believe Taiwanese who claim loyalty to Japan would fare any better?
It is an extreme right wing politic group with fantasy doctrine. They even issue their own passport for "Taiwanese citizen". More like the Conch Republic in Key West, only less sense of humor.
