Someone went back to 1957-58, but I remember the way it looked in 1960 when I arrived.
Club 13 was where I ate all my meals, until i went native. It will always be Club 13 to me. The motor pool office was next to the 6213th Supply SQ office, where I worked.
There were no barracks when I was assigned there, we lived in hostel 6. The front gate was manned by Chinese Mil. Police, and when Pres. Kennedy was killed, we were assigned guard duty alongside them. I had completed a year at the University of Maryland and had become somewhat good in Chinese language.

I could go on and on, but like many others who had the good fortune of being assigned to Taipei Air Station, it was heavenly. Great people and I learned a lot from them. I left the AF in 1964 and returned to NY. I then joined the Navy thereafter and was stationed in Taiwan twice more. Our daughter was born there, which was one of my wishes. Thanks for the photographs and reminding me of how fortunate I was to have served there. LEWIS R. But that was back in the 90's when the taiwanese military still used it as a officers club.suntex01https://www.blogger.com/profile/06064836042241335267noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5252080048017373240.post-78706741780197329462013-04-25T21:21:31.288-10:002013-04-25T21:21:31.288-10:00the spot on Google Street: http://maps.google.com/...the spot on Google Street: http://maps.google.com/?ll=25.077398,121.532371&spn=0.010689,0.018432&t=m&z=16&layer=c&cbll=25.077505,121.528435&panoid=d4Hwk6oa0p3xZnZOAQ8lxQ&cbp=12,320.5,,0,2.91Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5252080048017373240.post-13494581281662421852013-03-24T12:50:01.351-10:002013-03-24T12:50:01.351-10:00Thanks, Kent. Like you, it will always be Club 63 to me.
Johntitojohnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11439961002930293736noreply@blogger.com
